The Importance of FQHCs

Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) such as those operated by ONE Health Ohio are very important assets to a community because they provide a medical home to the uninsured and underinsured populations.

Across the United States, FQHCs have dramatically decreased the burden of health costs to hospitals, area businesses, and the community through the reduction of unnecessary emergency room visits, shorter lengths of hospital stays, and lower hospital admission rates. Infant mortality rates have also decreased.

In addition to providing quality primary medical and dental care, FQHCs also offer health education — with a focus on the importance of health prevention. This service also includes counseling on diet, physical activity, smoking, alcohol use, drug use, and the prevention of STDs.

As such, we are able to accept tax-deductible donations to support our mission to improve the health and well-being of people in our communities.
