ONE Health Ohio and the Butterflies & Hope Memorial Foundation presented a $25,000 donation to the Trumbull County Family & Children First Council to support a new Trauma Informed Care training program that the group will be starting in the community.
“Butterflies & Hope Memorial Foundation and ONE Health Ohio are committed to supporting our communities with the best possible health and wellness programs that can be offered,” says Ronald Dwinnells, MD, CEO of ONE Health Ohio and Founder of Butterflies & Hope. “We are privileged and pleased to support the Trumbull County Family and Children First Council with a one-year gift of $25,000.00 to develop and provide Trauma Informed Care training in the community.”
The goal of this training program is to contribute to the vision, development and coordination of Trumbull County’s “Growing a Resilient Community” by engaging a Community Manager to provide training, education and support to a cross section of the community including schools, businesses, agencies, clubs and organizations, as well as providing “Train the Trainer” programs in order to build capacity and expand the program.
Dwinnells says, “The training will create awareness and understanding of adverse experiences such as abuse, neglect and dysfunctional home life suffered by some children and its devastating consequences as they grow up. The training will improve earlier awareness and identification of children who are at social and health risks and will go a long way to help these kids become successful and productive citizens. We applaud the work of the Family and Children First Council and are very proud sponsors of their efforts.”
Bonnie Wilson, Family & Children First Council of Trumbull County Coordinator, says, “Dr. Dwinnells’ support will make it possible for so many people to learn about ACEs and the importance of understanding the long-lasting effects childhood trauma can have on a person. We believe our training will make a difference in the lives of those who hear the message”.
